The Game Designers Workshop Code of Conduct

Last Updated: June 28, 2020

The GDW is a voluntary community of professional game designers,
developers, and writers. We have diverse races, genders, faiths,
orientations, backgrounds, and ethnicities. The workshop meetings, and online communities were created to allow for idea sharing and problem
solving in the pursuit of building great games. We’re committed to providing a safe and welcoming community for every individual member both in person and online.

Professionalism

This is a community of professional peers. Be courteous, polite, kind, and respectful even when you disagree.

Confidentiality

If another member chooses to share something confidential during the
workshop or through any other channel please respect that request. If
you’re unsure if something should remain confidential please ask.

Harassment

GDW has a zero tolerance policy of any form of harassment by any member to
anyone, inside or outside, of the GDW community. This means no member
shall engage in stalking, following, intimidating or threatening of any sort. This also means no sexual based jokes, content or links
containing such information, unwanted advances, touching, cat-calling or the like.

Report a Code of Conduct Breach

If you ever feel unsafe or have been harrassed by another member of the GDW
please report it immediately to a GDW organizer. If you have concerns
about another member on the list please report it immediately. You can
send an email to any of the following Organizer members.

How Allegations are Handled

When there is a complaint or suggestion of a violation of this Code of
Conduct, GDW organizers will conduct a prompt, thorough, and
confidential investigation. All members of the GDW are obligated to cooperate with the investigation as needed. Any GDW member who is
determined by the investigation to have likely violated the Code of Conduct, whether at a GDW function or not, will be removed from the GDW invitation list and from all GDW-related communication channels.

This code of conduct will be modified as needed from time to time and the membership
will be notified of those modifications. If there are suggestions for
the code of conduct please direct them to a GDW Organizer.
